Welcome to the book-look "Awards of Excellence". We offer three awards to Web sites that are exceptionally well constructed, in recognition of the long hours, hard work and positive contributions, Web site developers and graphic designers make to the World Wide Web. With effect from 1 January 2005, the book-look "Awards of Excellence" will only be awarded to sites relating to the Arts and Literature.

Please also note that, in general, sites for commercial businesses will be marked much more aggressively than other sites as the aim of these awards is to acknowledge the hard work of Web site developers - not how much was spent on the site or how much it sells.

Sites are judged based on ease of navigation, content, graphic quality, page layout and design by book-look's award team. Full details are available on our Award Criteria page.

These awards are not given to every site that applies (the awards are currently rated at Level 3.0 by Award Sites!) - winning them is not an easy task and should not be taken lightly.

To give you an idea of the high standards that we set, detailed below are the number of Awards that have been given since the book-look "Awards of Excellence" scheme was launched (as at 19/02/08):

Important conditions

		The site must be a virtual domain eg. http://www.yourdomain.com - Sites hosted by free services come and go in some cases faster than they can be reviewed.
		The site must be in English Unfortunately we are unable to review sites that are not in English or do not have a built in method of translation.
		The award must be linked back Winning sites will be required to e-mail us with the URL where the award is displayed before being added to the winners list. Sites should also have a clear route to their awards page(s).

Is your Web site ready?

Due to the number of award submissions that we receive, please be sure that your site is ready before applying. All sites submitted to us are visited, but any that are deemed to be "under construction" will not be reviewed!

What is not acceptable

A site containing:

		pornography, racist comments, incitement to violence, foul language, or content unsuitable for children
		a jumble of unrelated content, broken images, or links that do not work
		pages that do not give proper credit where credit is due.

What to do next...

You may submit your site by e-mail. Be sure to include your name, e-mail address, Web site name and URL, and a brief description.

If your site is chosen to win an award you will be notified by e-mail. Non winning sites will not be notified and may resubmit after 90 days, although significant improvements should be made prior to you re-submitting your site.

Award winners must link the award back to www.book-look.co.uk. Once verified, a text link will then be added to the "Awards of Excellence" winners list.
