You really
have to hand it to Harriott: he's very good at what he does.
"Ainsley Harriott's Low Fat Meals in
Minutes" presents 80 fresh, interesting, tasty, low-fat recipes,
none of which takes more than an hour to prepare and cook (and most a lot
less), and each of which is accompanied by a clear colour photograph and
nutrition notes. In the usual Harriott manner, inspiration ranges all over,
with a preference for the flavours of Latin America, South-East Asia and the
Mediterranean. So Prawn, Mushroom and Bean Sprout Noodles sits with Jalapeno
Tiger-Prawn Ginger Skewers, while not far away is Roast Lemon Bay-Scented Cod.
Puddings are strong on fruit: a particularly happy invention is the "Live and
Kicking" Lemon and Chilli Sorbet. All in all, a very handy collection of
speedy, tasty and waistline-friendly recipes. |

From speedy
starters to classic desserts, "Ainsley Harriott's
Gourmet Express 2" shows that you can prepare the perfect family
meal or after-work supper without compromising on flavour or style or spending
hours in the kitchen. For a quick and delicious weekend brunch, try Ainsley's
Pancetta Hash Browns. Or get the morning off to a healthy start with a
Pineapple and Coconut Smoothie. As well as delicious starters like Hot Bloody
Mary Soup, Ainsley has a whole host of suggestions for the main course ranging
from Creamy Salmon Spaghetti to a warming Winter Vegetable Cobbler. And for the
perfect end to a fabulous menu, Ainsley's ideas include scrumptious desserts
such as Soft-centred Chocolate Puddings and Pears Poached in Coffee and
Rum. |

The energetic
Ainsley Harriott rides back into our kitchens on board "Ainsley Harriott's Gourmet Express", fizzing
with ideas and enthusiasm. His mission is to show us how to eat well and
imaginatively, with a little more effort and considerably less expense, by
cooking for ourselves instead of reaching for a ready-made meal or phoning for
a take-away. With over 120 recipes the book concentrates on fast food such as
Celtic Samosas, Paper Potato Pizza and Café Chilli Beef Tacos. There are
a number that require a bit more time and attention (a cracking Shepherd's Pie,
for instance), but most dishes come in at well under the hour for both
preparation and cooking. As ever, the book is beautifully produced and clearly
laid out, a pleasure to use. |

desserts such as Strawberry Hill Pineapple with Rum Butter Glaze. Full of
really useful tips for planning a brilliant barbecue party, the Barbecue Bible

Ainsley
Harriott serves up another slap-up collection of prime barbie treats in
"Ainsley's Big Cook Out". This time Ainsley
has been doing a spot of globetrotting, picking up hot outdoor dishes from
Canada, the USA, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina. For starters, a slew of flavour
enhancers to get things going - marinades, glazes, salsas and sauces. Then
we're off with a collection of starters, main courses and desserts like
"Silvana's Sizzling Snappy Mussels", "Chilli and Mustard Crusted Leg of Lamb",
and the sumptuous "Oaxaca Chocolata Omeletta". Naturally, all this hot work
deserves a few drinks and Ainsley obliges with, among others, the "What's New
Pussycat Strawberry Daiquiri" and the "Mississippi Wiggle Swizzle Punch".

With 100
simple and delicious recipes, each with a cooking time of no more than one
hour, Ainsley Harriott shows us how to serve up speedy meals without
compromising on quality or taste in "Meals in
Minutes". Lightning-fast, mouth-watering dishes include Chilli Bean
Ranch Pasties, Teasing Turkey Pitta Pockets and Simply Smokin Paella as
well as a crafty, high-speed version of the much-loved Sunday roast. And there
are irresistible desserts for those with a sweet tooth such as Terrific
Toffee-Choc Cake Pudding, Crackingly Fruity Mount Vesuvius and Titillating
Tarty Rhuby Souflette. So even though we work hard, play hard and definitely
have less time for cooking, if we follow Ainsley's example we can create
scrumptious meals on the spur of the moment and make take-aways a thing of the
past. |
