| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: 4.5/5 | | Antiquated and dangerously out of date: Rating: 1/5 |
| This book is so out of date in places that it is positively dangerous. You will only be able to spot the errors if you know your construction, and if you do, you will not need a very basic level textbook like this. I generally know when my students have relied on Chudley because their answers are thin, out of date and/or simply wrong. Do not buy this book, get Barry's Introduction to Construction of Buildings instead. | | From an architectural student/assistants POV: Rating: 5/5 |
| You cannot go wrong with this book throughout your career, just wish I could of had a digital copy on my mobile back in the days. | | usefull book: Rating: 5/5 |
| Very usefull book, full of pics that explain basics many times forgotten of construction and site work. a must for every architect!! | | A seriously labour-intensive work: Rating: 4/5 |
This book is certainly useful, though I have three comments or caveats:
1.) The font is rather unusual, making the work a strain to read (fortunately the text is usually limited to an explanation of the diagram).
2.) The drawings' line-weight is sometimes very thick which gives (potentially) the reader the effect of an optical illusion after some minutes.
3.) The diagrams are relevant to traditional British building practices; they are not necessarily very relevant elsewhere (and from what I have read, in some cases, may be outdated in the U.K.)
Overall, the book is still one of the best of its kind and is well worth the purchase price. | | Building Construction handbook review: Rating: 5/5 |
| Great book, I have bought every single edition and as a construction professional would be lost without it. | |
