| I bought this book at the airport before a long flight to New Zealand and spent the next day engrossed in the story, which starts slowly and then gathers momentum as the various tightly plotted strands twine together. The heroine is Lisbeth Salander (the girl with the dragon tattoo), a spiky cyberpunk hacker with her own moral sense and a complicated past who joins forces with Mikael Blomkvist, an investigative journalist, to make unwelcome discoveries concerning a wealthy family in Sweden. The sense of place rings true and the translation never intrudes. Highly recommended, so much so that I bought the next two books in the trilogy as soon as the plane landed. | | Good Read: Rating: 4/5 |
| Very good history with mystery book. A bit difficult to keep up with the swedish names to begin with, and there are a few gruesome scenes to be warned about. But otherwise clever plot, keeps you reading to the ending and even though the mystery is completed in this book, it is good enough to make you want to read the next book that follows. | | The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: Rating: 5/5 |
| Was recommended to buy this trilogy, amazing writer, so sad he died at age 50 before the books were published. Have read two and cannot wait for the third to be published shortly | | A page turning must: Rating: 4/5 |
This much hyped book had a lot to prove. Although it may not win literary awards or be haled a classic...I feel the hype has been justified. It has an engaging plot and Larsson has provided us with two interesting main characters...so even though you may only set out to read a couple of pages....you will soon get hooked in! Although uncomfortable reading at times....(this isn't a fluffy detective story) it isn't gratuitous and is in context.
Still in two minds about watching the film ....my imagination is much more impressive than any director's budget! | | Swedish thriller author: Rating: 5/5 |
| This book is just fantastic I could not put it down once I started it! It is part of a trilogy so I have now ordered the next two books which I cannot wait to read. Such a pity that the author has died. Highly recommend reading this book! | |
