| My 5yr old loves these books and his reading has really improved. He now reads confidently and with feeling. the story lines keep him interested and as they follow on from each other he knew the characters well. He even made up his own 'games' to play helping him with spelling and grammar. Great set of books. | | ORT is fantastic!: Rating: 5/5 |
Another set of excellent books for the Reception/ year 1 child starting out with reading independently. The set includes:
1. House for sale (Book band 4 - Blue)
2. The New House (Book band 4 - Blue)
3. Come In! (Book band 4 - Blue)
4. The Secret Room (Book band 4 - Blue)
5. The Play (Book band 4 - Blue)
6. The Storm (Book band 5 - Green)
This set is designed to be read in order and really works to keep a child's interest and get them wanting to read on to find out what happens in the next book. Biff, Chip and Kipper move house. In the new house they find a hidden room while decorating. The room contains a miniature version of the house containing a mini version of the children and Floppy the dog. The final story tells how the magic key (the basis for most of the stories in Stage 5 onwards) is found.
Stage 4 books bridge the gap between highly supported reading at levels 1-3 and more independent reading at level 5 onwards. Highly recommended.
These are much more interesting for a child than the very dry Jolly Readers series from Jolly Phonics, but I'd also recommend that series especially if you have followed their original course (which is unrivalled IMHO). | |
