| The misadventures of Tallulah Casey! Hilarious new series from Queen of Teen -- laugh your tights off at the (VERY) amateur dramatic antics of Talullah and her bonkers mates. Boys, snogging and bad acting guaranteed! |
| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: 3.5/5 | | Market aware: Rating: 2/5 |
Easy to read and mildly amusing but it appears that one of the main concern of Louise Rennison was to get a work that could be sold with no age restrictions on the buyers.
To obtain this the 14.5 year old main character, who's telling the story, has got her her pubescent sexuality duly sanitised. Tallulah appears like a 9 year old would imagine being 14: curious about members of the opposite gender, (iper)sensitive to the changes in her physical appearance but with a numb body. Even after she repeatedly indulges in sessions of manual stimulations of her breasts there's no mention or reference to how the body of a young woman responds.
For the sake of sales (or a prudish attitude?) the resulting character is flimsy, doesn't really stick out of the paper, and works more as a narrative device than a convincing example of a young teenager.
I'm not looking forward to the follow-ups. | | Not good enough to be classed as dross: Rating: 1/5 |
I confiscated this rubbish from a 12 year old at school. She was reading in class. I read a few chapters to see what made this series so compelling, and as far as I can see, if you dont want to have to put any effort into your reading, then this is the book for you.
While appreciating this was not written with a middle aged male as the preferred reader, i have to say that the author is really getting away with murder classing this pulp as anything other than a vacuous waste of print ink.
If your requirement is for low level entertainment, I understand that Jordan has another book out - and it might have some 'sell-on' value. This one should miss out the middle man (person) and go straight to the bin. | | good story but...: Rating: 4/5 |
As a avid reader of the previous Louise Rennison series, i was surprised when i came across the new book in waterstones, having heard nothing about a new series of books! It looked promisingly weird, (from the picture of an owl on the cover...) and the nice man at the counter said he had read it and loved it, so i got it.
i was slightly scared that this new book wouldn't live up to the Georgia books, but after the first few chapters i realised that it was just as good (thank god!) Tallulah, the main character, is every bit a quirky as her cousin, with the same wanderings about boys, adults, and her body. it was nice to have a change of scene as well, from a average town-life to a small village in Yorkshire. the only criticism, and the reason i didn't give it 5 stars, is that it is very similar to the Georgia books.
well worth the money, looking forward to the next book, entertaining read :] | | SLOW DELIVERY: Rating: 3/5 |
| Was given a time period of next day delivery, and was not delivered in time, went on holiday next day, disappointed. | | Withering Tights by Louise Rennison: Rating: 5/5 |
I bought this book at the request of my granddaughter who is 14 years old. She had dipped into it at a book shop and immediately asked me to buy it for her.
She thoroughly enjoyed it and actually read it in just over one day.
It is very funny and well written. I would recommend it for any teenager or older teenager (like me)! | |
